Notice of new tax for USB importers in Germany

Dear Customers in Germany,

For our good cooperation in future, here is the notice for your kind reference:

The new tax to be paid to GEMA will start from July 1st, 2012, which means there will be new tax for USB importers in Germany. Before the tax for USB below 4GB was 0, 10 €, and now it will be up to 1.10usd, if the capacity is 4GB or above, the tax will be 1.90usd per piece. For example, if you buy 1000pcs 2GB USB, you have to pay $1.10*1000=1110usd to GEMA.

GEMA is a performance rights organization from Germany. It represents some 65,000 composers, authors and music publishers and the rights of more than a million copyright owners internationally whose works are used in Germany. Its purpose is to collect royalty fees from the organizers of public events where music protected by GEMA is played as well as media manufacturers and publishers and broadcasting stations. Why there will be more tax for USB to GEMA is for the possibility to store music on the USB, and this fee will be used to support artists, musicians, bands etc.

If any new orders or repeat orders you have, we sincerely advise you try to finish them before July 1st, 2012. It will save some cost for you.

Wish you good business and we’ll do our best to cooperate with you in future!
